MY CREED

Revised 6 January 2010
The world will have its standard, its actions, and its aspirations. These I will not judge, condemn, nor criticize yet neither will they satisfy me.
Good is the enemy of best. (Paul H. Dunn) I will not be good. To the best of my
ability I will be the best; best, not in being better than others, but best in exceeding my personal limitations.
Change her life. (Gary Sorensen) Loving as Christ loved I will not go to heaven alone. Though it require much courage, faith,
and “hard love” I must say what needs to be said and do what needs to be done to exhibit true charity. Armed with this real love, I will follow spiritual whisperings and change eternal lives, beginning with my own and excluding no one.
Man is that he might have joy. (2 Nephi 2:25) You find what you are looking for. I will look for the joys of this life. I will find the positive.
As I encounter things disturbing I will seek to change them, first looking inside myself for the changes. The things I can change I will; those I cannot I will give to Christ. Prayer is the answer. Tomorrow I may dwell with God. Yesterday I dwelt with him. Why not today? This is joy. Armed with this hope, I will bloom where I am planted, tilling and enriching the soil wherever I grow.
Dream the impossible dream. (Don Quixote) The certainties of reality will not overshadow the possibilities of the impossible. Nothing is impossible. Rejecting excuses for failure, I will seek reasons to succeed. Fake it ‘til you make it. Disregarding bodily comfort and mental complacency and succored by the grace of God, I will have one more adventure, make one more minute, take one more step, say one more prayer.
Do what is right; let the consequence follow. (LDS Hymn 237) Complete obedience yields complete blessings. I can do hard things. Loving God more than man, I will seek the Lord’s direction and I will follow His instructions. Period.
Be one. (D&C 38:27) In my home, my community, my nation, and in God’s world, I will share my strengths and strengthen my shortcomings. I will walk
Christ’s walk and talk Christ’s talk until, through His grace, my heart changes and His walk is my walk and His talk is my talk. In sharing the sunshine of my soul may I be given the right to share the sunshine of Christ’s kingdom.
This is my creed.
